The first rule! Be considerate and respect nature! Leave the least amount of footprint! Remember that you are a guest in the home that thousands of wild life creatures call their home so behave how you would like a guest to behave in your home!


Rules to follow -


  1. Every park gives you a pamplet when you register in their office. Take your time to go through, as it contains important information on the Do's and Don'ts for that specific park.


  1. No excessive noise at any point, the entire purpose of camping is to spend some peaceful time in nature.


  1. Don't leave garbage in undesignated places. Every park has designated areas for all your garbage, please dispose them accordingly.


  1. Don't leave any food, perfumes, tooth paste or anything that can have aroma in the tent that can attract any wildlife to your tent.


  1. If you do see wildlife, never ever approach them! See them from a good distance. Use your best judgement.


  1. Never feed any wildlife.


  1. Always carry a bear spray in the parks known to have bears. Visit Ontario parks website for the steps to be taken if you come across a bear or any dangerous animals.


  1. If you are newbie, avoid camping in bear-prone parks during spring and fall.


  1. Carry Insect repellent spray.


  1. Check the tick situation of the park from their website. Avoid long grasses and stay on the trail during hiking. Check pets regularly for ticks.
