Canadians love camping and you must have come across someone who camps but you are not quite sure if it's a thing for you? Our advice...start with a Yurt!
We have suggested Yurt camping to many friends over years before investing in a lot of camping gears. Get the experience and if you love it, go ahead and buy everything. The best part with yurt is that they are considerably self-sufficient. You have mattress, chairs, table, stove, sometimes a mini-fridge and of course the yurt itself for shelter. They are heated too which is a huge benefit as the nights are usually colder in forests than cities. The only thing you need to carry is blanket and food. You have to keep in mind though, not all provincial parks offers yurt accomodation and pets are not allowed either. They are considering pets to be allowed for some yurts, we are yet to know the update. Camping in a yurt would definitely give you a reality check that camping is your thing or not!
